Hong Kong University Protests

A film festival award winning short documenting the struggle between hopeful youngsters and the old guard.
During a semester abroad in Hong Kong, I spent my time scouring the HK streets as hundreds of thousands protested China’s takeover. I took pictures, interviewed students, and documented a spring of violence against institutions hell-bent on reforming this democratic nation into a communist bloc. All of this work culminated into a short documentary spanning several nights. Universities once halls of knowledge were barricaded into fortresses. Were students protecting themselves from the inevitable red wave? Or role-playing revolutionaries destroying in the name of a Western dream?
