Writer/Director/Producer

Casting and crewing for a ten page script was the first hurdle in front of me on this project. To cast for Eden, I designed an audition poster and plastered it all across social media while simultaneously getting the word out on the ground to actors I knew. In the end, our cast comprised of local Wilmington actors through personal connections which really epitomized how our production was coordinated. Everything was sourced through our local network of film professionals whether it was gear, locations, or craft services.

Production Coordination

Performance Direction

Directing actors to achieve a desired performance was a new skill I developed during this production. Most of the credit here is due to the actors effectively communicating their wants and needs prior to getting on-set. We held a table read with all of the actors to gauge performance levels and hone in on key story beats. Here, I learned that it’s better to pre-plan as much as possible to limit any questions on your shoot day.

Music Direction

This project was filled with “firsts” including my first time scoring a film. To develop the perfect soundtrack, I recruited top of the line, local musicians who were open to creating the sound of the film. To start, we distilled the emotions behind each track to give ourselves a frame of reference. From there, the composers took these emotions and ran with them, developing multiple different sounds for the country club. My role was to trim the fat from the meat until we had a lean composition that best suited the story. Overall, it was a massively collaborative effort that leaned heavily on the talents of the composers and performers.
